Baby Teething Schedule and Symptoms
Baby teething refers to a process when the teeth appear through the gums. Most likely, this process happens when the age of the baby comes around six months. However, it may vary from one baby to another. Some perhaps happen earlier like in three months while some other comes quite late such as on their 12 months. When they reach 3 years old, they commonly have around 20 teeth. The lower front teeth most likely emerge first. Then, it will be followed by the upper front teeth after 1 or 2 months. Although they appear around six months, the teeth which are also renowned as milk or deciduous teeth actually start developing when the baby is growing in mother’s womb. Baby Teething Schedule
Baby teething schedule comes in several stages but most babies start to have milk teeth around 6 months. Bottom front teeth mostly appear in the age around five or six months. After that, top front teeth follow around the age of six to eight months. Top incisors or the side front teeth emerge as well when babies reach nine or eleven months. Meanwhile, the bottom lateral incisors usually emerge when the baby’s age is ten to twelve months.
Molars or back teeth come differently from each baby but most likely they come when baby reaches one year old. First molars often appear around 12 to 16 months. Then, it will be followed by the appearance of canines around 16 to 20 months. Top canines frequently come around 16 months while bottom canines are around 18 months. Second molars come last and may vary from 20 to 30 months. The tops usually appear around 20 months while the bottom ones come around 24 months.
Symptoms appear during teething
The symptoms are quite normal to appear on baby teething. Even though some of the teeth perhaps emerge without any pain or discomfort feeling on your baby but most of them comes with symptoms. The signs of first teeth’s appearance may vary from mild to severe symptoms. Mild symptoms should not be worried about since it will vanish shortly. However, if you sense strange or severe symptoms, then you need to see the paediatrician.
Among many kinds of symptoms, drooling perhaps becomes the most common symptom occurs. Teething process triggers saliva production and this mostly happens during ten weeks to four months. The direct contact to saliva often cause rash on baby’s skin. The rash usually appears on the area around mouth, chin, face, and even chest. Whipping their saliva using tissue or handkerchief can reduce the appearance of this rash on skin. You also can treat the rash using certain skin cream for baby.
Another common symptom of baby teething is biting. When teeth about to emerge through the gums, it will create a pressure which cause baby feels discomfort. Baby usually will bite everything likes their own fingers, mom’s breast, or toys in order to get rid of the pressure happens on the gums. This discomfort feeling caused by the pressure on the gums may also make babies reject any food or drink. It is since when they eat or drink, they feel hurt on the mouth. Forcing them to eat, drink, or even breastfeeding can make the hurt feeling turns to severe.
The inflammation which occurs in gum’s soft tissue cause severe pain feeling on baby although some babies perhaps do not experience it. The first teeth and molars commonly cause the most painful feeling. Some of them will get used to this condition and ignore it. The inflammation does not only cause painful feeling but also red and swollen on the affected gums. This condition might happen before the new tooth emerge until short period time after its appearance. Every now and then you can discover puffy gums with the newly appearing tooth particularly when they open the mouth.
In some cases, fever may follow when baby start to have teeth. This is quite uncommon symptom but if it happens that perhaps it is due to the low immunity of the baby during teething. This condition increases the risk of them to get affected by various infections and other health disorders. However, like other kinds of inflammations, the inflammations in the gums possibly cause common fever. This kind of fever can be treated with the similar treatments like other common fever. But, you need to consult with the paediatrician when the fever last more than three days on your baby.

Take benefit of cold teething ring or you can use clean finger to rub the affected baby gums softly. You can do this treatment around two minutes. This will soothe the babies even sometimes they may reject it at first. Facilitate their biting desire by providing safe object. Recently, there are various kinds of toys which are designed for baby to be chewed such as chewing rings. It will be better in order to prevent them chewing other thing they might found but possibly harm them.
Give them medicine also might be possible if the symptoms or painful feeling appear severe. There is a counter reliever which is labelled with specific range of age. You can use this based on your baby’s age and recommendation of paediatrician. Be careful when using pain reliever. Never give aspirin to your baby since it is associated with particular syndrome which is rare but serious. If you want to give them pain reliever, you had better to consult with the doctor previously. The doctor will know better what kind of counter reliever that works best on your baby based on their condition.
